Where We Came From presents the ancestral history of John H. Bryan Jr. (b.1936). To that end it explores the following families who lived in the southern states; Bryan, Burnett, Kornegay, Thornton, Parker, Daniel, Ward, Armistead, Wilkerson, Adams, Cornelius, Morton, Montgomery, Mosby, Cameron and Burks. It traces their paths of migration from the British Isles to the colonies of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina in America in the seventeenth and eighteenth century.  They all moved to the Middle South states of Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee in the nineteenth century.


The book is constructed around my Maternal and Paternal Grandparents, their antecedents and my parents.

To that end it explores the following families who lived in the southern states; Frierson, Davis, Paine, Drake, Gallaway, Martin, McCord, Puckett, Purifoy, Maddux, Persons, Neville, Gillespie, Mackey, Kelly and Rives. It traces their paths of migration from the British Isles to the colonies of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and New York in America in the seventeenth and eighteenth century.  They all moved to the Middle South states of Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Missouri in the nineteenth century.
